Product Description
Product Description
The Balmacaan style has a surprisingly American backstory — it was created by a New York aristocrat and expat who commissioned a single-breasted, raglan-sleeve walking coat from his London tailor and named it after his shooting estate in the Scottish Highlands. The style took off, the tailor had the name trademarked, and the rest is history. Ours stays true to the original design and circles back to its Scottish roots with the fabric… it’s made from Harris Tweed, a super-special heritage textile from the Outer Hebrides that's by definition hand-woven on a treadle loom in the weaver's own home. (It's regulated by Scottish law.) Only a select few craftsmen are certified for this, and most come from families that have been weaving for generations.
